What is the meaning of “gf” that appears in the descriptions of some jewelry items?

“gf” indicates that the item is gold filled. Gold filled or gold overlay, is made by heat and pressure bonding a layer or layers of 14k or 12k gold to a base metal. The value of gold filled is greater than gold plated because gold filled has an actual layer of 14k gold. Gold filled beads have a long life, are economical, and have a rich look at a fraction of the cost.

What is THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A GOLD AND A GOLD-FILLED BEAD?

GOLD BEAD: One solid layer of gold, usually thin and susceptible to dents and scratches.

GOLD-FILLED BEAD: One or more layers of karat gold backed with a base metal. It is much stronger than the gold bead and not to be confused with gold plated which is gold sprayed on a base metal.

All of DbL’s necklaces and earrings are 14k gold unless otherwise noted. All bracelets are handcrafted with 14k gold filled because these beads withstand wear and tear infinitely better.
